I had the enormous pleasure of hang gliding with Jayne Snell. Jayne came to see me in hospital when I was donating stem cells (I had joined the Delete Blood Cancer UK register and had been matched with a cancer sufferer), showing me what a massive difference a transplant can make. She was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2011 and would have died had it not been for a stem cell transplant from an anonymous donor. She has just celebrated her third year post transplant, and she is fit and well. We celebrated her 3rd “birthday” by hang gliding together, raising money and awareness for Stem Cell Donation.
It is an amazing treatment and has a real chance of saving lives.
